Additional Information

Samuel VICKERS:

Research Notes:
Samuel and his Brother Joseph were christened together in 1811 with no mother listed, which is not the norm in the Anglican registers during this time. They may have another mother than Jane and were christened much later because of this. If their mother was Jane Ashman, she would have been approximately 47 years old at the time of Samuel's birth which is feasible, but a stretch. The delay in christening could have been a religious change to Methodist, which the family later changed back to Church of England and had the two boys christened Anglican at the ages of 8 and 13. An unidentified tree at Ancestry.com lists Samuel's mother as Jane Teasdale, but no ladies born in Allendale or area circa 1756. Samuel did name his first born son Thomas which follows the naming tradition of the time.

Maria HARRISON:

Research Notes:
Cemetery headstone lists birth date as 30 May 1803, but the St. Cuthbert's Church register lists her birth date as 30 April 1801. I am inclined to believe the church register, only because this is a legal document and a primary source, and headstone dates are from family members and a secondary source.

(01) Maria VICKERS:

Research Notes:
Maria is a bit of a mystery. She was listed on an un-named tree at Ancestry.com as the first child of Samuel & Maria. No christening in IGI, or burial on NBI for a Maria or Mary Vickers in the right age range. No marriage in NBL, CUM or DUR. She is not enumerated with her family on the 1841 census in Allendale, or 1850 in Wisconsin. She is not listed on the Guy Mannering ship manifest with her parents in 1849. No marriage in Lafayette Co, WI or in England on the GRO index. So, I am stumped on verifying her orgins.
